I took Natilynn to her doctor's appointment today. The shots and appointment went great, but then I had to go to the offices outpatient lab. They had to do lead tests and a hemoglobin. I went to the lab thinking I was getting her finger pricked, but she actually was getting her blood drawn. My 1 year old getting her blood drawn. What!
So I get to the front desk and show the phlebotomist the lab orders. She looks at me and says a baby, Why do they send babies down here? I just blankly started at her and said, "This is where they told me to go." She told me to come in and we sat down. I get Natilynn restrained with my leg holding her down and she puts a band around her upper arm and hold her lower arm out. She then she looks up at a man who walks in and says, "these are the days I hate my job."
She is getting ready to draw my daughter blood, and obviously does not like doing it or is lacking in confidence in her ability to do the procedure. She starts, Natilynn screams, has been screaming, is full red faced torment sounding terror screaming. She pricks her once moves it around in her little arm, Huffs and puffs and pricks her again. I almost start crying and tell her OK! Stop! I fight back tears and tell her that I will have to reschedule. The phlebotomist looks at her arm and says oh, red spots, I have never seen that happen.
Natilynn could be allergic to the band, or have blood blisters from all the pressure but she has no clue why they appeared and does not attempt to find out. It looks like she held my daughters arm so hard that she pinched it and broke 5 or 6 blood vessels. It was a terrifying experience.
I feel like such a bad mother. I should have turned around when the philbotimist started having the unprofessional comments. I will be calling the doctor's office to inform them of the incompetence in there staff. Should be fun.

Day One of Nurse Aid Training
My first day is over! It was wonderful! I have eight girls in my class and they are all extremely intelligent, friendly, and fun! We are all so different and it will be interesting and exciting to work and learn with them. My teacher is an RN. She has much life experience, and has six kids. She seems like a very classy and kindhearted person. She is all about hands on learning and interacting.
Here's to an awesome spring quarter.

Tomorrow it starts
Tomorrow starts the Spring quarter at Sinclair. I have 15 credit hrs this quarter. I am doing my Nurse Aid training! I am very excited to be certified in something. One big step towards becoming a nurse.
Everything seems to be slowly coming together. I see hope for the future. My family has been struggling and I know this small certification will help out in big ways.
Yeah for a brighter today and tomorrow!
